K-9 Zeke, a German Shepherd serving alongside Officer Josh Porter, represents the very best of modern police K-9 work—driven, dependable, and deeply connected to both mission and community.

Since beginning his service in October 2022, Zeke has already built a resume that speaks volumes. One of his most memorable deployments came after a vehicle pursuit along I-71, where Zeke completed a long send and secured his first street apprehension, marking a defining moment early in his career. In another significant operation, Zeke located 10 kilograms of narcotics during a cold stop with no prior indicators, a testament to his detection ability and the strong teamwork within the department—an effort that led to multiple additional arrests.

Zeke has completed numerous successful tracks, and his presence alone has resulted in countless voluntary surrenders. His reliability and performance have earned him the trust of the Southwest Enforcement Bureau SWAT team, where he is called upon for every SEB deployment—an honor reserved for only the most capable K-9 teams.

But Zeke’s impact extends far beyond tactical operations.

On any given day, he can be found out in the community, greeting new faces, building trust, and reminding everyone that behind the badge and the bite work is a dog who loves nothing more than a good game of tug-of-war. These daily interactions have made Zeke not only a protector, but a familiar and welcome presence throughout the area he serves.
